Biohazard and Crime Scene Cleanup in Mount Juliet, TN
Mount Juliet sits between two lakes, Old Hickory to the north and Percy Priest to the south, with I-40 running through the middle. It's a city of commuters, young families in newer subdivisions and busy shopping centers. We come out from Nashville, about 17 miles west, to clean up after deaths, crimes, suicides and injuries.
This page covers what we see in Mount Juliet homes and businesses, what to do in the first hours, and how we schedule.

The first few hours after the scene is released
When the police or medical examiner have left, you may suddenly be alone in the house with no idea what comes next. Here's a short, safe checklist. None of it involves cleaning.
Make sure everyone is safe
If anyone needs medical help or is in danger, call 911 first.
Close off the area
Shut the door. Keep children and pets out of the room and away from any affected outdoor areas.
Leave the fans and vents alone
If it's easy, avoid running fans or the HVAC in a way that blows air from that room into the rest of the house.
Hold off on throwing things away
Your insurer may want to see damaged items or photos of them first.

We'll ask a few questions and arrange an assessment.
More detail is in what not to do before an assessment.
Commuter households and newer subdivisions
About 72.1 percent of Mount Juliet homes are owner-occupied, according to Census data, and many are in subdivisions built in the last few decades. In a household where everyone commutes, a family member who lives alone may go a day or two without being checked on. Those situations can turn into unattended death cleanup, where the main questions are how far fluids reached and whether odor has spread through shared air.
Newer homes often have carpet upstairs and luxury vinyl or engineered wood downstairs, with an open layout in between. That affects both containment and what we inspect. Our page on carpet and subfloor cleanup describes the layers we check.
Lake homes on either side of town
Homes near Old Hickory Lake and Percy Priest Lake sometimes have walkout basements, docks, steep lots and long driveways. If an incident happened in a lower level or an outdoor area, tell us. Outdoor wood and concrete surfaces absorb material differently from indoor ones, and rain can carry it into joints and soil. We may need to plan a different route for carrying out equipment and waste.
Shopping centers, restaurants and the Star station
Mount Juliet's commercial areas near I-40 draw shoppers from across the area, and the city has a stop on the WeGo Star commuter rail line. When an injury, assault or death happens at a store, restaurant, gym or parking area, the manager has to close the affected spot, protect staff and customers, and reopen as soon as it's safe. We can work after hours and give you documentation for your corporate office or insurer. See commercial biohazard cleanup and blood cleanup in commercial buildings.
How a typical home job runs
Once we've assessed the home and you've approved the written scope, the work follows a predictable order. We set up containment around the affected area, often plastic sheeting and a sealed doorway, so dust and odor stay put. We remove porous materials that absorbed biological material, such as carpet and pad, a mattress or a section of drywall, and seal them in containers. Then we clean and disinfect the remaining surfaces with EPA-registered disinfectants used according to label directions. Finally, we check the area again, deal with any lingering odor at its source, and take down containment.
Throughout, we keep you updated by phone. If we find that fluids went farther than the assessment showed, for example under a threshold or into a stair tread, we stop and call you before expanding the scope. Our guide on access and containment explains why the setup matters so much in open-plan homes.

Travel from Nashville
There's no Mount Juliet office. We drive out from Nashville on I-40, about 17 miles, and that stretch is heavily used by commuters at both ends of the day. When you call, we'll confirm a realistic time for the assessment by phone, taking traffic and our other jobs into account. The phone line is answered at any hour.
Homes on the far north side near the lake, or south toward the Percy Priest shoreline, can be a few miles beyond the I-40 exits, so tell us the nearest cross street when you call. If you'd rather begin online, the Order Online page involves a $2,000 initial deposit, which is not the final price.

Questions people ask
Should I turn off the air conditioning?
If you can easily keep air from moving out of the affected room, that helps. Don't put yourself in an uncomfortable situation to do it. Closing the door is often enough until we arrive.
Can you clean a store before it opens in the morning?
Often, depending on the size of the area and when you call. We'll give you a realistic plan, not a promise.
Our lake house has a walkout basement where it happened. Is that harder?
Not necessarily harder, but it changes the plan. Lower levels sometimes have concrete slabs, which absorb differently than wood subfloors, and a different exit route for equipment.
Does homeowner's insurance pay for this?
Some policies may cover part of the work; it depends on yours. We provide photos, a written scope and an itemized invoice you can submit.
What if the incident was an assault at home?
We'll work calmly and on your schedule. Tennessee Criminal Injuries Compensation may cover up to $3,000 for cleaning and removal of materials after a crime in the victim's home. If you're not safe, the National Domestic Violence Hotline is 1-800-799-7233.
How is the final price set?
From a written scope after the assessment, based on the area, materials, rooms, access and waste volume. See how pricing is determined.
