Sumner County, TN Biohazard Cleanup Coverage
Sumner County is one of our most frequent destinations outside Nashville. We cover all eight of its cities and the rural land between them, traveling from our single Nashville base.
The county runs from the shore of Old Hickory Lake up to the Kentucky line, so a call might come from a lakeside home in Hendersonville one day and a farmhouse near Westmoreland the next. This page explains how those differences shape a cleanup, who you'll deal with before we arrive, and how to get started.

The cities we cover
Gallatin is the county seat. Hendersonville is the largest city. Portland, White House, Westmoreland, Millersville and Mitchellville fill out the north and west, and the Sumner County side of Goodlettsville borders Davidson. Several of these cities cross county lines, so you may live in one county and pay taxes to a city based in another. We cover both sides.
Homes along Old Hickory Lake
Old Hickory Lake covers roughly 22,500 acres across five counties, and Hendersonville sits on its northern shore. Lakefront homes bring their own logistics. Many have walk-out basements, steep lots with limited parking, boathouses and docks, and finished lower levels that sit partly below grade. If an incident happened on a lower level, airflow is often limited, and that can affect how far odor and contamination have traveled.
We also see seasonal and second homes, where a death may not be discovered for some time. If that's your situation, our page on cleanup after a delayed discovery explains what's involved without graphic detail.
Farm country in the north
North of Gallatin and Portland, the county is largely rural. Homes may be on private wells and septic systems, with detached workshops and barns. Gravel drives and gates affect where we can park and how far waste has to be carried. These details don't change our standards. They change the plan, so mention them when you call. A photo of the driveway or the building, sent by text or email, often saves time on the first visit.
Older homes and storefronts around Gallatin
Gallatin's historic core has older houses, small apartments above shops, and commercial buildings that share walls. In older construction, fluids can move through gaps in plank subfloors and between layers of flooring that have been added over decades. Shared walls also mean a neighboring tenant or business may need to be told the space is closed for a while. We keep the affected area sealed off during work and can coordinate with a building owner about neighbors and access.
For a storefront, office or restaurant, see our commercial crime scene cleanup page, which covers working around customers and staff.
Owners, renters and who makes decisions
Roughly 72 percent of homes in Sumner County are owner-occupied, based on Census figures for 2020 to 2024. That means most of our calls come from homeowners or their families. The other 28 percent are rentals, from apartment communities in Hendersonville and Gallatin to single-family homes owned by small landlords. In a rental, the owner or manager usually authorizes the work, while the tenant or the tenant's family may still have belongings in the home. Sorting out who decides what, before anything is removed, avoids hard conversations later. Our guide for property owners covers those questions.
Agencies and the scene release
The larger cities have their own police departments, which typically handle incidents inside city limits. In unincorporated areas, the Sumner County Sheriff's Office is generally the responding law enforcement agency. When a death is unexpected or unexplained, the county medical examiner is involved. Tennessee's regional forensic centers perform forensic autopsies at no charge to the family, and final reports often take about 10 to 12 weeks. You don't have to wait for that report to arrange cleanup. You do need the scene released.

We agree on timing
Hendersonville is about 18 miles from downtown Nashville and Gallatin about 30. Northern towns are farther. We confirm a time rather than promise one.
Assessment on site
We walk the affected area, check what's underneath the surface, and give you a written scope.
Removal, cleaning and records
We remove what can't be cleaned, disinfect what can, and leave you with photos and an itemized invoice.
Questions people ask
Our lake house has a walk-out basement where the incident happened. Is that harder to clean?
It can take more planning. Below-grade rooms often have carpet over concrete, limited ventilation and framed walls that need checking. We assess the full area, including anything under or behind finished surfaces, before giving you a scope.
We live in Goodlettsville. Which county page applies to us?
Goodlettsville sits in both Sumner and Davidson counties. Either way, we cover your address. See the Davidson County page if you're on that side of the line.
Do you go as far as Westmoreland and Mitchellville?
Yes. Both are in Sumner County and within our area. Because they're farther from Nashville, we'll talk about timing when you call.
The home is on a well and septic. Does that matter?
It's useful for us to know. It affects how we handle wastewater from the cleanup, and it tells us something about the property's layout before we arrive.
Do I have to be at the house while you work?
No. Many people would rather not be there, and that's fine. Someone with authority needs to approve the written scope and arrange access. After that, we can send updates and photos and walk you through the result by phone.
Can my family arrange this if we don't live in Tennessee?
Yes. We can work with an executor or a single family contact, share photos and a written scope by email, and coordinate access with a neighbor, agent or lockbox. Our estate property page describes how that works.
